Patient Log is an excellent tool to track student exposure to specific patient populations, procedures, and encounters. If your program is using Patient Logs, here is what you need to know when reviewing them. Logs can be reviewed by school administrators, faculty, or site preceptors.
School administrator or faculty review:
You can review patient logs individually or all at once for a student within a course. When reviewing a log, you can either send it back to the student for revisions by marking it as "Needs Attention," or approve it by setting the status to "Approved." You can edit or delete logs at any status ("Pending Review," "Needs Attention," or "Approved").
Site preceptor review:
You can configure the log in such a way that the patient logs are sent to preceptors for review when students submit them. The preceptors can review all the patient logs sent individually or all at once for the student. While reviewing the log, preceptors can either mark it as "Needs Attention," for further information or mark it "Approved."
Please note that the preceptors don't have the ability to delete the logs.
Auto approvals:
You can also enable automatic approval of patient logs once students submit them.

For Student:
While filling the log, students can edit or delete the log when it is under "In progress" or "Pending Review" status. They cannot edit the log once it has been approved. Here are the resources you can share with your students to help them complete the patient logs.
