This document provides a concise guide on setting up courses and configuring the academic calendar within the system. It covers essential steps such as adding course measures, defining academic terms, specifying professional years, and setting up learning activities for student engagement and tracking.
Accessing Course Setup
- Select Courses from your left menu or dashboard.
- Select the Setup section under the Course page
Course Measures
Course Measures are the components of your courses, such as objectives, learning outcomes etc. that build up your entire course. In Curriculum mapping, you will be able to define the different types of course measures you will utilize for any of the cohorts/curricula added in the system.

- Select the Course Measures option to add course measures
Adding Course Measures
- On the Dashboard page, select Courses.
- You can also access this on your left-menu.
- On the page that loads, go to Setup from the horizontal menu. Click on Course Measures from the left panel. This will take you to course measures screen where you can manage your course measures details.
Adding Course Measures
- The page will be empty if you have no course measures added yet. Use the + icon to begin adding course measures.
- A drawer will open, and you will find the following fields:
- Active: to activate, turn this on (should be purple). To inactivate, ensure the button is gray. If marked inactive, it will not show up within a course.
- Course measure name
- Click Save when done
- Some things to note:
- The course measure category created here will be visible on the Mapping Set Up > Select Course Measures You can activate the measure categories that you want to use in a curriculum in that section.
- Measure Category on the Select Course Measures section appear in the same sequence added in the master list.
- All the categories created here will show up on all of your courses by default.
Editing Course Measures
- To edit the label of any Course Measure, click on the pencil icon next to the course measure that you wish to edit.
- This will open a drawer for you to make any changes. Click Save when done.
- You can make changes to the course measure name even after associating it to your curriculum.
Deleting Course measures
- To delete a course measure, click on the trash bin next to the course measure that you wish to delete.
- This will delete the entire course measure.
- Please note that a course measure cannot be deleted if either a course or a standard is associated or mapped to it. You may reach out to support prism-support@exxat.com for assistance.
Academic Calendar
- Within Setup, you can add the details of your Academic Calendar such as Term, Professional Year, and Academic Year.
- Term: Indicate the specific semester during which the course will be available, such as Fall, Spring, or Winter.
- Professional Year: Denotes the level of student by academic year of the program during which the student is expected to complete the course, categorized as Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, etc. This is dependent on the length of your program
- Academic Year: Specifies the academic year in which the course is scheduled to be offered.
Activating Learning Activity

You can also set up the Learning Activities and decide whether your students can categorize their time entries. Additionally, you can specify the categories from which they can choose.
